The Salina Rescue Mission has responded to homeless men and countless others for over 20 years. The number of beds have more than doubled since the ministry was founded in 1981.

Services of the Salina Rescue Mission

Shelter:

A safe, clean environment for homeless men 18 years of age and older. Check-in is at 4:00 p.m. each day and the Saline County Sheriff’s Department processes each person’s identification.

Clothing:

Free clothing, coats, shoes and belts to any guest in need.

Laundry:

Clothing is laundered once a week and bed linens everyday. (RETURN)

Food:

3 nutritious meals are prepared each day and available free to anyone in need, every day of the year.
Before the evening meal is served a chapel service is presented to all the guests.

Holiday Meals:

Thanksgiving and Christmas day dinners are provided for up to 10 families through the efforts of Dillon’s and the community. This is apart from the mission clients that are helped each year that otherwise would have none. (RETURN)

Sack Lunches:

Available to men with jobs and for any shelter guest requiring one.

Medical Care:

Provided through Salina Cares Clinic. Nurses from Cloud County Community College in Concordia provide basic medical assistance. Twice each month they come to the mission as a part of their training program. Some prescriptions are co-paid by the Salina Rescue Mission. (RETURN)

Vision Care:

Through the cooperation of the office of Dr. Cole & Cooper the Salina Rescue Mission pays approximately $20.00 for eye exams and eyeglasses for overnight shelter guests.

Licensed Therapist:

Addresses the therapeutic causes and underlying reasons of their addictions and causes of being homeless as those issues are being worked through. Counseling is not limited to but basically intended for the men on the New Life Program. (RETURN)

Hygiene Products:

Are made available at the front desk such as toothpaste, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, soap or a number of many different items.

Appearance & Healthful Living:

Professional independent Hair Stylists offer free hair care and styling services monthly to overnight shelter guests. (RETURN)

A multivitamin mineral supplement is offered to every man on the New Life and Aftercare Programs.
